Before you start
You can decide a request only when you hold the request's permission at its location. You can never decide your own request.
Steps
- Open Approvals.
- Open a request to read its details.
- Approve it, or reject it with a note. A rejection needs a note.
- To withdraw your own request, cancel it. Only the requester can cancel.
States
pending, approved, rejected, cancelled, failed.
Rules and limits
- Separation of duties: the requester cannot decide the request.
- If the subject changed after the request, the approval fails as stale and the request becomes
failed. Raise a new request. - Some approvals ask for a fresh verification (step-up) before you decide.
- Every app registers its own kinds of request, for example stock operations that the approval policy gates.
