Bills of materials
A bill of materials (BOM) lists the components of a product. Each change is a revision.
Before you start
You need build.engineering.manage.
Steps
- Open Engineering, then Bills of materials. Create a BOM or a new revision of one.
- Enter a Description ("What changed in this revision") and the Base quantity. The base quantity must be more than 0.
- Add lines. Each line has the component, quantity per base quantity, unit, scrap %, the operation that uses it, an issue method, and Phantom. You can add Reference designators such as "R1, R2, C5", a note, and alternates. Use indent, outdent, move, add, and remove on a row.
- Add drawings with Add drawings.
- Save, then click Release revision.
Issue methods
| Method | Meaning |
|---|
| Pick | The store brings it. The operator scans it. |
| Backflush | Taken from line side when the operator reports. |
| Floor stock | Never issued. |
Rules
- Lot- and serial-tracked items are always Pick. A backflush line for them is refused.
- A phantom line needs a released BOM of its own.
- A BOM that contains itself is refused.
- A released revision cannot be edited.
