Locations

A location is any place in the network with a real position: a warehouse, depot, workshop, supplier, drop point, and so on.

The list

  1. Open Stock, then Locations.
  2. Choose List (the default) or Tree (?view=tree).
  3. Filter by Search (code, name, or city), Kind, Tag, and Status (Active and inactive is the default; also Active, Inactive, Archived, and All). Turn on Only where I'm a member to see your own. Click Clear filters.
  4. The columns are code, name, parent, kind, city, tags, members, health, status, and a map link.

Create a location

  1. Click Add location.
  2. Enter the Code. It is required, up to 32 characters, in capitals, and unique, for example PUN-CD.
  3. Enter the Name, up to 120 characters.
  4. Choose the Kind. It sets the default stock mode and report interval.
  5. Choose the Status: Active or Inactive. Inactive locations stay on the map but cannot be used in operations.
  6. Tick Listed as a shipment destination if people who can dispatch should see its code, name, kind, and city even without access to it.
  7. Optional: choose the Parent. The tree can be at most 8 levels deep. A location cannot be its own parent.
  8. Choose the stock mode: ledger (full stock), reported (unit status reports), or none. For reported, set the report interval (hours), from 1 to 720.
  9. Set the position. Click the map, drag the pin, or paste lat, lng. Latitude and longitude are required. A position of 0, 0 is allowed only for an inactive location.
  10. Optional: Address (200), City (100), Region (100), Postal code (20), Country (2 letters, default IN), and Time zone (the team default if empty).
  11. Optional: contact name (120), phone (40), email (254), and notes (2000).
  12. Optional: Add a tag and press Enter or a comma. You can have up to 20 tags of 64 characters.
  13. Click Create location.

A stock-holding location gets a storage area MAIN.

The location page

The header shows the name and code, the status, health, and stock mode, with Work here and View on map. The tabs are Overview, Supply (stock-holding locations), Details, Storage areas, Plan (when floor plans exist), and Members. A banner says "This location is archived", "This location is inactive", or "View only" when you cannot change it.

Click Save details to save. The page shows "Nothing to save." when nothing changed.

Members

A membership gives one role at one location. It can cascade to sub-locations.

  1. Open the Members tab.
  2. Choose the Person and the Role at this location. You can grant only roles whose permissions you hold here.
  3. Click Add member. The page shows "Members updated".

To remove one, use "Remove NAME as ROLE".

Archive and restore

  1. Click Archive. The dialog says the location leaves the map, pickers, and destination lists. History, members, and storage areas stay.
  2. Click Archive location.

The server refuses while stock is on hand or a shipment is in transit, or while the location has sub-locations that are not archived. Restore brings it back active, or inactive while its position is still 0, 0. Restore the parent and the kind first.
