Non-conformance reports

A non-conformance report (NCR) records faulty material or product and what you decide to do with it. A defence install says deficiency report.

Before you start

You need build.quality.manage to raise, hold, decide, and close. Without it the page says "You cannot raise NCRs: Ask an administrator for the quality role at your place." You need build.read to view.

The list

Open Quality and trace, then Quality. Filter by Status, Source (check, scrap above the team threshold, manual, or receiving), and Place. An empty list says "No NCRs match: Change the filters."

Raise a report

  1. Click Raise NCR. The page says "Say what is wrong, where, and how much."
  2. Choose the Place. It is chosen for you when you have only one.
  3. Click Choose item and pick the item.
  4. Enter the Quantity: "How much is affected. Each unit gets its own decision later." It must be above zero.
  5. Optional: choose the Order. Then optionally the Operation, or The whole order.
  6. For lot or serial items, search "Search SKU by lot code" (2 or more characters) and click Add CODE.
  7. Write the Description.
  8. Tick Blocks clear to build if orders for this item must not be clear to build while the report is open.
  9. Optional: choose the Supplier for a supplier fault, and Add photos.
  10. Click Raise NCR.

Hold the stock

On the report click Contain stock.

  1. Enter the Quantity. "Only N is left to contain."
  2. Choose Where it is now.
  3. Choose the Quarantine area. Later scrap, return, and release decisions default to it.
  4. Click Move to quarantine.

Decide

Click Decide on N. The dialog says "N UNIT of NCR still need a decision."

  1. Choose the Decision: Use as is, Rework, Scrap, or Return to vendor.
  2. Enter the Quantity. "Only N is left to decide."
  3. Enter Why. It is required.
  4. Choose Stock is in: quarantine or scrap. For Use as is choose Release to, when the stock is contained. For Return to vendor choose the Vendor.
  5. For Rework enter Rework at (the work centre), Operation name, Minutes per unit, and After operation. Rework adds an operation to the order.
  6. Click Record decision.

Scrap of work in progress is recorded against its operation. Other scrap over the approval limit waits for a second person: the decision shows Waiting for approval, Posted, Posting failed, or Posting. The decision list is append-only.

Close

Click Close report. It needs every unit decided. Otherwise it says "N still need a decision."
