Items

An item is anything Logistics can hold in stock. The item says how it is tracked and which control class governs it.

Before you start

You need inventory.read to view and inventory.catalog.manage to create, change, archive, and restore. Read-only users see "Item details" and, on the new page, "Your role cannot create items. Ask for the catalogue management permission."

The list

  1. Open Stock, then Items.
  2. Search by SKU, name, NSN, or part number. Filter by Supply class (All supply classes, Unclassified, or one class).
  3. Read the columns: SKU, name, tracking, issue mode (Custody or Consume), control class, supply class, unit, identifiers, reorder minimum and maximum, and status.
  4. Click Load more for the next 50.

Create an item

  1. Click New item.
  2. Enter the SKU. It is required, up to 48 characters: letters, digits, dots, dashes, slashes, or underscores. It must be unique.
  3. Enter the Name (required, up to 120 characters) and optional Description (up to 2000).
  4. Choose the Tracking:
    • Quantity: counted as a single quantity.
    • Lot: each receipt carries a lot or batch code.
    • Serial: every unit has its own serial number.
  5. Choose the Issue mode: Consumed when issued or Held in custody and returned.
  6. Choose the Control class. If none exists, the list says "No control classes defined".
  7. Optional: choose the Supply class. Planning uses it to group items.
  8. Enter the Base unit: 1 to 8 letters in capitals, such as EA, L, or KG.
  9. Tick Whole units only if it cannot be split. It is always on for serial items.
  10. For lot items tick Requires expiry date if every lot must be received with one.
  11. Optional: Reorder minimum and Reorder maximum. The maximum is at least the minimum. Use up to 4 decimal places.
  12. Optional: Shelf life (days), 1 to 36500. Build gives a new lot this many days from receipt when it is received without an expiry date.
  13. Optional: Unit weight (kg), up to 3 decimal places, and Unit volume (m³), up to 6. They prefill a Fleet transport request.
  14. Optional: add Identifiers. Choose the scheme, such as NSN, and enter the value (up to 64 characters). Click Add identifier.
  15. Optional: add Pack units. Enter the unit (up to 8 characters, for example BOX) and its factor. Click Add pack unit.
  16. Click Create item. The page shows "Item created."

Change, archive, and restore

  • Open an item and change the fields. The footer shows "Unsaved changes". Click Save item ("Item saved.") or Discard changes.
  • When stock history exists, a banner says "Stock history exists." and the tracking, base unit, whole-unit, and expiry settings are locked.
  • Click Archive and then Archive item. The item disappears from pickers and can no longer be received, issued, or moved. Its history stays. The server refuses while stock or open custody remains.
  • Click Restore and then Restore item to bring it back.

The item page also links to Stock & balances and the Ledger.
