What Build is

Hovera Build plans and records production: the recipe of a product, the orders, the work on the floor, faults and the history of each unit.

What this is

Build covers the whole path from an engineering recipe to a finished product in stock. Every step has a screen in the left menu. The menu has six groups.

The flow

  1. The engineer releases a BOM and a routing for the item.
  2. The planner creates a production order, or accepts a proposal from material planning.
  3. The planner checks Clear to build and clicks Release.
  4. Build sends one request to the store. The store reserves the material and moves it to the kit area or to line side.
  5. The operator starts an operation at the station, scans material, reports good and scrap quantities, and finishes.
  6. The last operation, the one that reports output, puts the finished product into stock through Logistics.
  7. The planner closes the order. Build returns or scraps the unused material and makes the cost final.

Words used in Build

WordMeaning
Production orderAn instruction to make a quantity of one item at one place by a due date.
OperationOne step of a production order, done at one work centre.
Work centreA group of machines, or a manual work area, where operations run.
RoutingThe list of operations that make one item.
BOMBill of materials: the components of one item.
RevisionA version of a BOM or a routing. A released revision never changes.
PickA component that the store brings to the order before the work starts.
BackflushA component that Build takes from line side when the operator reports quantities.
Floor stockA component that Build never issues.
PhantomA BOM line that stands for a sub-assembly. At release the order shows its parts instead.
Line sideA storage area next to a work centre. It holds the parts that the operation backflushes.
StationA shared tablet on the floor, signed in by a supervisor.
TravellerThe code that goes with an order and its operations, for example PRD-000123/10.
NCRNon-conformance report: a record of a fault, what was done with the stock, and why.
DispositionA decision about faulty stock: use as is, rework, scrap or return to vendor.
MRPMaterial requirements planning: the planning run that proposes what to make, buy or move.
OEEOverall equipment effectiveness: availability times performance times quality.

What Build does not do

  • Build does not use artificial intelligence. Each proposal, late flag and check names the rule that made it.
  • Build does not post stock itself. Only Logistics posts stock.
  • The station keeps its actions and sends them again until the server answers. Long offline work is not available.
  • Build has no electronic signatures for batch release.
