Stock counts

A count compares the stock on the shelf with the system and posts the differences to the ledger.

Before you start

You need inventory.count at the count's location to start, enter, submit, post, and cancel. A count is blind by default: counters do not see expected quantities.

The list

  1. Open Work, then Counts.
  2. Filter by Status: Open, Submitted, Posting, Posted, Cancelled, or All.
  3. Each row shows the number, status, a Blind badge, the number of areas, "Limited to N items", and the note.

An empty list says "No counts yet".

Start a count

  1. Click Start a count, or use Start count on the map.
  2. Under Storage areas tick at least one. Counting a parent counts every bin inside it. Filter by code or path. Use Select all areas, Select all N shown, or Clear all.
  3. Optional: under Limit to items (optional) pick items. Leave it empty to count every item in the chosen areas.
  4. Keep Blind count ticked, or untick it.
  5. Optional: enter a Note (optional), up to 1000 characters.
  6. Click Start count.

Starting freezes the chosen areas. Stock in them cannot move until the count is posted or cancelled.

Enter counts

  1. On the count page, in Enter counts, scan the storage area into Scan storage area, or choose it under Counting in.
  2. Scan or choose the item.
  3. Lot items: choose the Lot, or choose Another lot (enter the code) and type the Lot code. A lot not yet recorded must be received or adjusted in first.
  4. Enter the Counted quantity. Serial items: scan each serial into Serial numbers found.
  5. Click Save, or press Enter. The page shows "Saved QTY UNIT of SKU at AREA."

You can enter 1 to 1000 entries at once. You can enter counts only while the count is open.

Submit

  1. Click Submit count.
  2. Read the dialog. Lines you did not enter are recorded as 0 (not found). It shows how many are not entered. "Counted quantities can no longer be changed after submitting."
  3. Click Submit count.

Post the differences

  1. Click Post differences. A blind counter does not see the differences.
  2. Read the dialog. It says "This records N increase(s) and M decrease(s) to stock in the ledger." If no line differs it says the count closes without changing stock.
  3. Click Post differences.

If your approval policy requires it, the posting waits for an approver. The count shows Posting and Open the approval. After posting, the page shows "Differences posted" with a ledger link.

Cancel

Click Cancel count. Entered quantities are discarded and nothing is posted. The areas are released. You cannot undo it. The button is disabled while a posting waits for approval: cancel the approval request first.

Stages

Open, Submitted, Posting (only when approval is needed), Posted. A count is numbered with the location, for example PUN-CD · CNT-0004.
