Start a trip

Before the first stop you review the last inspection report, check the vehicle, enter the odometer, and start.

Before you start

  • The trip must be released to you.
  • If the vehicle is down, a red banner says "This vehicle is reported down. Talk to your transport officer before you drive on."
  • A bar at the bottom of the page holds the main button and a message line. Success messages fade after 6 seconds. Warnings and errors stay until your next tap.

Steps

  1. If your team keeps inspection reports, read the card Last inspection report. Tap the review button, then I have reviewed this report. Start trip stays disabled until you do.
  2. Do the pre-trip check. The page shows one of two forms:
    • A vehicle form. Fill it in and tap Save Pre-trip inspection.
    • A checklist. The card Pre-trip check counts "x of y". Mark each item OK or Problem. For a problem, answer What is wrong? (up to 300 characters). Each problem becomes a defect.
  3. If you marked any problem, answer Is the vehicle still safe to drive? with Yes, safe or No. If you answer No the page warns "Reported not safe to drive. Talk to your transport officer. Start only if they tell you to."
  4. Enter Odometer now in kilometres or miles. The page shows Last reading X km and the change, for example "+N km", or in red "N km below it". If the vehicle tracks engine hours, enter Engine hours now too.
  5. Tap Start trip.

Result

The page shows "Pre-trip check saved." and "Trip started." The first stop appears. A repeated tap shows "It was already recorded, nothing was sent twice."

If your reading is far from the last one, the page says "Check it, then tap again to confirm." and the button reads Confirm and start. Check the number, then tap again.
